Barca wants same intensity against Bilbao

Barcelona, Spain (Sportsbook Betting Lines) - Barcelona coach Pep Guardiola enjoyed his
team's "intensity" Wednesday in the first leg of their Champions League series
against Arsenal and wants the club to carry that style into Saturday's La Liga
match against Athletic Bilbao.
Barca, especially in the first half when it opened a two-goal advantage in the
2-2 tie, played up to another level in the crucial match in London, and it was
another match Guardiola felt the club could mirror as the season closes.
"It's always a trap to use the last game as a reference point," Guardiola said
about the Arsenal match. "But I don't think that we have given enough value to
the way we played against Mallorca.
"We took a big step forward both there and in London."
Barca hosts Arsenal on Tuesday, and next weekend visits the Bernabeu to battle
Real Madrid, but Guardiola isn't worried about those matches - especially Real
- until points are secured against Bilbao at the Camp Nou this weekend.
"There are seven games after the Bernabeu match ... if it was the last game of
the season then I would say it was vital, but there are another 21 points up
for grabs after that game, with away games just as tough as the Madrid trip,"
Guardiola said.
"If we were to lose in the Bernabeu and win all the others, we'd have a great
chance of winning the league."
Barcelona enters the weekend level on points with Real Madrid atop La Liga and
every match could eventually decide the title. Barca has been doing enough to
win recently, but has not played nearly as well as Guardiola would like.
Although the 1-0 win at Mallorca doesn't look good, it was just the second win
by an away team against the surprise fourth-place La Liga team, and Guardiola
hopes the improvement continues to build down the stretch in Spain and Europe.
Guardiola didn't disclose who might play less this weekend but Carles Puyol is
not a concern after he picked up a red card against Arsenal, and will miss the
second leg.
Zlatan Ibrahimovic has regained his scoring touch, bagging two goals against
Arsenal to run his scoring streak to four straight matches. Lionel Messi still
leads the club and La Liga with 25 goals, and the duo will provide Bilbao with
a lot to handle this weekend if Guardiola features the duo.
Bilbao is another club, like Mallorca, that is quietly have a strong season as
Barca and Real battle for the La Liga title. Bilbao is sixth in the standings,
nearly 30 points off the lead, but just two points out of fourth and a spot in
the Champions League.
Fernando Llorente leads Bilbao with 12 goals and five assists, and will be the
major concern for Barca this weekend. He had two goals and an assist in a 4-3
win over Racing last week.
Bilbao earned a point against Barca in a 1-1 draw in November on a goal from
Gaizka Toquero, and would become a major threat for a top-four finish with an
upset this weekend, but it is just 4-7-4 away from home.
Real puts its 11-game La Liga winning streak on the line Sunday when it visits
Racing. Real has scored 39 goals during the win streak and has scored at least
two goals in all 11 matches.
Also Saturday, Real Zaragoza hosts Malaga, and Sevilla hosts Tenerife. Also
Sunday, Valladolid hosts Villarreal, Almeria hosts Mallorca, Sporting Gijon
hosts Xerez, Valencia hosts Osasuna, Getafe hosts Espanyol and Atletico Madrid
hosts Deportivo.

Super Bowl XLIV Odds
Super Bowl XLIII isn't even a week old yet and oddsmakers have already released Super Bowl XLIV odds.
Despite the Pittsburgh Steelers winning Super Bowl 43, the New England Patriots are 8/1 favorites to win Super Bowl 44.
Bet Super Bowl XLIV Future Odds
With their 27-23 victory over the Arizona Cardinals in Super Bowl XLIII, the Steelers became the latest NFL champion. But believe it or not, oddsmakers from online sports book MySportsbook.com don't have the Steelers the favorites to win Super Bowl XLIV next season.
That honor belongs to the New England Patriots, who are 8/1 favorites to win despite not even qualify for the postseason in 2008. The Pats also have a major decision to make regarding what to do with Matt Cassel, who played well in Tom Brady's (knee surgery) absence last year but is also a free agent this offseason.
Ironically, the Steelers aren't even oddsmakers second choice to win Super Bowl 44, as the Dallas Cowboys are listed right behind the Patriots at 9/1 despite not making the playoffs themselves. Clearly oddsmakers think the public will hop back on the Cowboys' bandwagon considering the immense talent they have and the opening of a brand new stadium.
After Dallas, then comes Pittsburgh at 10/1, but they share those odds with the New York Giants, who won Super Bowl XLII. The Indianapolis Colts and San Diego Chargers round out the top six teams at 12/1, while the Baltimore Ravens (14/1), Tennessee Titans (16/1), Carolina Panthers (18/1) and Philadelphia Eagles (18/1) complete the top 10.
The NFC Champion Arizona Cardinals got no love from oddsmakers as they were established as a 30/1 long shot to win next year's Super Bowl. They share those same odds with the Chicago Bears and Tampa Bay Buccaneers – two teams that didn't even qualify for the postseason. Other long shots are the Kansas City Chiefs (100/1), Detroit Lions (100/1), St. Louis Rams (75/1) and Oakland Raiders (75/1).
