Snead was originally signed as an undrafted free agent in April after a standout collegiate career at Ole Miss despite skipping his senior year. He was subsequently let go at the end of July. Freeman is expected to miss the remainder of the preseason after fracturing his thumb on a throw in Saturday's win over the Chiefs. However, he is expected to be ready for the team's season opener against Cleveland on September 12. Snead threw for 2,632 yards and 20 touchdowns with 20 interceptions last year as a junior, leading the Rebels to a 9-4 finish with a win over Oklahoma State in the Cotton Bowl. His 46 career touchdown passes are second only to Eli Manning's school record of 81. The Buccaneers also announced the re-signing of defensive end George Johnson, who was waived by the team two weeks ago. The move became necessary as Tampa also waived/injured defensive end Brandon Gilbeaux on Tuesday.
