Celtics visit Clippers in finale of long trek

Basketball Betting Lines

02/25/2009 - (Sportsbook Betting Lines) - The Boston Celtics conclude a grueling six-game road trip Wednesday in Hollywood, where they face the Los Angeles Clippers at Staples Center.

The Celtics improved to 4-1 on the trek Monday in Denver, where Ray Allen and Paul Pierce thrived from beyond the three-point line and combined for 48 points, and Boston continued to roll despite being without star forward Kevin Garnett by blowing out the Nuggets, 114-76.

Allen shot 6-of-11 from three-point range on the way to 26 points, while Pierce made 4-of-7 from beyond the arc as the Celtics won their second straight since losing Garnett to a right knee injury last week.

The two wins were rather impressive, first a 128-108 win over the previously- hot Suns on Sunday. One night later, the Celtics were on fire again offensively, going 14-of-23 from three-point range while compiling 28 assists and racing to a 60-37 halftime lead.

Rajon Rondo contributed 14 points, eight rebounds and eight assists for Boston, which won in Denver for the first time since December 7, 2003 and is now an impressive 22-8 on the road. The Celtics also exacted some revenge for losing at home to Denver on November 14.

Garnett will remain on the sidelines tonight and is expected to miss at least two weeks. Meanwhile, forward Brian Scalabrine, who started for Garnett in Denver, strained his neck in the first quarter and didn't return. His status for tonight's contest is uncertain.

The Clippers opened a short two-game homestand in winning fashion on Monday. Rookie Eric Gordon went 6-of-7 from three-point range to finish with 27 points and Baron Davis logged 25 points, 10 assists and nine rebounds against his former team as Los Angeles picked up a 118-105 victory over the Golden State Warriors.

Zach Randolph posted 27 points and 11 rebounds for the Clippers, who shot 13- of-24 from behind the arc to snap a three-game losing streak and improve to 7-21 at Staples Center.

Marcus Camby returned from a four-game layoff due to an inner ear infection and finished with nine points and six rebounds for LA.

Los Angeles was without its leading scorer, second year star Al Thornton, against the Warriors. Thornton missed the contest with a right foot injury and is listed as day-to-day.

This will be the first meeting between the two clubs this season. The Celtics snapped a three-game skid to the Clippers by sweeping the home-and-home season series a year ago.

MySportsbook.com: NBA Championship Odds

With the playoffs about two months away, the top two teams in the Western Conference are the clear cut leaders to win the NBA Championship. The Dallas Mavericks have the best record in the NBA (44-9) and have been absolutely scorching since the second week of the season.  What makes the Mavs’ record more impressive is the fact that they dropped their first four games of the season.  Currently they have won 17 out of their last 18 and are MySportsbook.com’s favorite (2-1) to win it all.  Right behind the Mavs are the Pacific leading Phoenix Suns (39-13).  Last season, the Suns lost in the Conference Finals to non-other then the Mavericks four games to two.  Of course the Suns were without center Amare Stoudemire who has is averaging 19.9 PPG and 9.5 RPG since coming back from his knee injury.  Unlike the Mavs, the Suns have struggled a bit lately having lost their last three and four out of their last seven.  Of course the main reason for their three straight loses is due to the absence of two time MVP Steve Nash, who is out with a shoulder injury.  Heads-up, the Mavs have beaten the Suns in both of their meetings this season.

In the Eastern Conference, the Pistons (32-19) are the favorites to win it all at 6-1. The addition of Chris Webber seems to have been a good move for the Pistons.  Since coming over from the 76ers, Webber has averaged 13.1 PPG and 7.3 RPG and the Pistons are 11-4.  Even though the defending champion Heat are currently on the playoff making cusp, they are the Eastern Conference team that is getting the most action to win it all (9-1).  The fact that Shaquille O’Neal is back in the starting lineup after missing 39 games probably has something to do with this.  No doubt, Shaq makes a difference when in the lineup as their winning six out of their last seven would indicate.

Super Bowl XLIII Betting - Super Bowl 2009

Super Bowl 2009, the Arizona Cardinals and the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Let’s take a look at the Super Bowl 2009 betting odds and the betting line and figure out where they’ve been and where they are going to go.

MySportsbook.com put up the Super Bowl 2009 betting odds late on Sunday night with the Pittsburgh Steelers favored by 6.5 points and a total betting line at 47.5 points.

Since then, however, the Super Bowl 2009 betting odds have seen a good deal of movement and you’ll want to be on top of where they are likely to move to make sure you get the best line value for the big game.

Since opening, the Super Bowl 2009 betting lines went to Steelers -7 in the span of roughly 3 hours but were quickly bought back down just minutes later to 6.5 again.

After that is took about 5-6 more hours before the betting line went back to -7 where it has sat for a while now and is likely to remain. The opening betting total of 47.5 was bet down right after the line became available and went to 47 within minutes.

Roughly a day later it has been bet even further down to the 46.5 tally it currently is set at.

Roughly 60% of gamblers seem to be on the Cardinals here so the point spread will be bet down and a 7.5 would not last very long at all with many taking the early 6.5 in hopes of finding a potential middle in the Super Bowl 2009 betting odds.

If you like Arizona and see a 7.5, I’d take it as soon as possible because it’s unlikely to last. For Pittsburgh backers, the -7 might be the best you’ll be able to find but a 6.5 is definitely possible close to game time.

Regarding the Super Bowl 2009 betting odds for the total, most tracked gamblers are already on the over and with those who took the under 47.5 already securing a middle on the over 46.5, the only way I see it moving is back up to 47 so if you like the over, I’d recommend betting now.
