03/19/2010 -
Atlanta, GA (Sportsbook Betting Lines) - Joe Johnson tied the game at the end of
regulation and then made a 21-foot jumper as time expired in overtime, as the
Atlanta Hawks edged the Charlotte Bobcats, 93-92, at Philips Arena.
Johnson, who missed the previous two games with a strained Achilles, ended
with 18 points for the Hawks, winners in four of their last five. Josh Smith
donated 18 points, 11 rebounds and five assists. Jamal Crawford chipped in 16
points to help Atlanta claim its fifth straight home victory.
Raymond Felton finished with 25 points for the Bobcats, who have still won
seven of nine despite the loss. Gerald Wallace, who had missed the last three
games with an ankle injury, tallied 20 points and 16 boards.
Stephen Jackson ended with 19 points for Charlotte, which is one win away from
setting a franchise record for wins in a season. The Bobcats' win over the
Thunder on Wednesday gave them 35 wins, tying last year's win total.
Johnson's trey three minutes into overtime gave Atlanta a 91-88 edge. The
score remained the same following multiple misses and turnovers.
Theo Ratliff's block of Johnson's driving layup led to Felton's layup with
38.1 ticks left. Crawford then missed a jumper and Wallace pulled down the
defensive rebound with 13.2 seconds to go.
Felton drove to the lane and made a spectacular runner with his left hand with
3.8 ticks remaining to give Charlotte a 92-91 edge. Following a timeout,
Johnson took the inbounds pass and dribbled to the left before draining the
game-winning shot with a hand in his face.
Boris Diaw's jumper gave the Bobcats a 76-66 lead with nine minutes to play in
the fourth. However, the Hawks responded with an 11-2 spurt to cut the deficit
to one, 78-77.
Trailing 84-79 with less than 2 1/2 minutes to go, Atlanta scored the final
five points of regulation to send things into an extra session.
Al Horford's tip-in cut the gap to two, 84-82, with 1:12 left. Following a
pair of missed foul shots by Jackson, Johnson made a floater in the lane with
35.4 seconds remaining to deadlock the tilt at 84-all.
After Ratliff missed a jumper, Smith missed a three as time expired in
regulation.
The Bobcats held a 26-20 edge after 12 minutes of action, but the Hawks turned
the tables in the second and took a 46-44 lead into the locker room.
Jackson's driving layup put Charlotte ahead 63-56 with less than 4 1/2 minutes
left in the third. But Atlanta responded with eight straight points to go in
front by one, 64-63, with less than two minutes remaining.
The Bobcats scored the final six points of the third, with Wallace's tip-in
giving Charlotte a 69-64 edge heading to the fourth.

In the spirit of the low scoring start to the season, odds makers at the world’s largest online sportsbook and casino have set odds on how many total shutouts there will be this season.
MySportsbook.com has posted updated sports betting lines for week two of the season. Ben Roethlisberger’s health status is still questionable, so Willie Parker will try to lead Pittsburgh again as they travel to Jacksonville as a one point favorite.
