Cavs aim for 3-0 series lead in Chicago

Basketball Betting Lines

04/22/2010 - (Sportsbook Betting Lines) - LeBron James and the top-seeded Cleveland Cavaliers will try and take a commanding 3-0 lead in the Eastern Conference quarterfinals tonight when they visit the Chicago Bulls at the United Center.

James connected on several highlight- reel shots down the stretch on Monday, scoring 15 of his 40 points over the final eight minutes, as Cleveland took care of its homecourt edge with a 112-102 victory over No. 8 Chicago in Game 2.

"I'm a confident player. I just felt like it was the fourth quarter and that is where I make my mark as an individual," said James.

Quicken Loans Arena was on pins and needles through three quarters, as the youthful Bulls attacked the rim and dominated the interior. The fourth frame, however, belonged to James, and his unlikely sidekick Jamario Moon, who scored 12 points on the game thanks to four three-pointers.

Antawn Jamison scored 14 points and Mo Williams added 12 points with six assists for Cleveland, which also won Game 1, 96-83, on Saturday. James is averaging 32.0 points per game in the set and shooting a mind- boggling 59.5 percent

Joakim Noah scored a career playoff-high 25 points to go along with 13 rebounds for the Bulls, who were outdone by James' Herculean effort in the fourth.

Derrick Rose added 23 points and eight assists -- to just one turnover, and Luol Deng totaled 20 points with six rebounds and five assists. Ronald Murray even added 14 points off the bench for the Bulls.

"Overall, I thought we did a much better job on the glass. Guys really played hard. We had an opportunity, but they made a few more plays down the stretch," said Bulls head coach Vinny Del Negro.

Deng, bothered by knee ailments all season, left the game briefly in the fourth with a right knee injury but is expected to play tonight.

Chicago and Cleveland split a four-game regular season series this year but the last Bulls win came when the Cavs had shut it down and were resting James.

Since the NBA changed its playoff format in 1984, there have only been three occasions when a No. 8 seed has shocked a No. 1, and its only happened once in the Eastern Conference when Miami stunned New York in a five-game set back in 1999. The last time an eight topped a No. 1 was in 2007 when Golden State upended Dallas in 2007.

These two Central Division rivals were regular postseason opponents during the Michael Jordan-era with the Bulls taking five straight series between 1987-88 and 1993-94.

Game 4 of the best-of-seven set is scheduled for Sunday afternoon at the United Center in Chicago.
